Bio

Alberto Egea López was born in Caracas, on August 29, 1903. He died in Barcelona, Spain, on December 12, 1958. He studied drawing and painting at the Academia de Bellas Artes de Caracas and at The National Academy of New York. He belonged to the same generation of landscape painters such as Pedro Angel González, Lopez Méndez and Marcos Castillo. Nevertheless, exiled by the dictator Juan Vicente Gómez, he lived from 1923 to 1935 in New York, where he earned a living doing advertising design. Upon returning to Venezuela, he quickly assimilated the landscape style familiar to our “milieu”: luminosity, native thematic, in some cases, socially intentioned.
