Bio

Born in Caucagua (State of Miranda) on January 6 of 1928.

He studied in “Escuela de Artes Plásticas y Aplicadas de Caracas”. Painter. Lecturer of drawings and painting in “Facultad de Arquitectura de la Universidad Central de Venezuela” and in the “Escuela de Artes Plásticas y Aplicadas Cristóbal Rojas”. He has review of art through the national radio of Venezuela and on newspapers of Caracas.

He has been influenced by the cubism, by Klee and Tamayo; he used a technique of transparency which he combined with the calligraphy drawings. The feminine figure was the principal subject of the season. From imaginings and “nature morte”, Quintana developed to in formalism through 1960, movement whitch refused to took up again in 1961. In his last stage, Quintana turn to the imaginings. He was a member of groups of “Sardio” and “León de Oro” and even he was linked to “grupo Techo de la Ballena, de Caracas”.

The work of Quintana Castillo is exhibited in “Museo de Bellas Artes”.

He has a mural in a gymnasium “ Libertador del 23 de Enero, en Caracas”
