Nicolás Piquer
The painter Nicolás Augusto Piquer Pacheco was born on September 24, 1930, in Caracas. Between 1948 and 1955 he studied drawing, painting, sculpture, advertising design techniques, scenography and engraving at the Escuela de Artes Plásticas y Aplicadas. Later on, he studied pedagogy in the specialty of artistic education (1960-64). In 1967 he traveled to Italy, and in Florence, he studied restoration, architectural history and art history - returning to Venezuela in 1969.
Along with the painter José Antonio Dávila (1935) he founded an art school in La Asunción, Margarita Island, Edo. Nueva Esparta, in 1948. In 1956 he exhibited at the Lauro Gallery in Caracas with the painter, caricaturist, writer, and teacher from Monagas Luis Domínguez Salazar (1931-2008) and the Caracas painter Esteban Villaparedes (1933). His work and his characters presented are predominantly dark-skinned, hailing from the Barlovento region, Miranda.
Nicolás Augusto Piquer Pacheco passed away on December of 2016.
