Bio
Rafael Ramon González was born in Araure, Portuguese State, the 24 of November of 1894. He died in Caracas in 1975. He is transferred to Caracas in 1909 with a scholarship to study in the Academia de Bellas Artes. In 1936, with the reform of which the Academy is object, he happens to dictate the landscape chair, in which one will stay during years. In 1946 he obtains the National Painting Prize in the Salón Oficial. Its work incorporates to the modalities of the School of Caracas the characteristic of the anecdotal thing that with as much emphasis had rejected theCírculo de Bellas Artes. Many of their subjects of folkloric and costumbrista character parents it with two slopes, well dissimilar, that in the future will enter use: the ingenuous painting, on the one hand, and the realistic currents that will emphasize the social aspect.
